Virologie

Die Corona-Pandemie hat den Stellenwert der Virologie stark in den Vordergrund gehoben. Folgerichtig wurde an unserem Institut in den letzten Jahren die virologische Forschung wiederbelebt. Hierbei kommt es der Thematik zugute, dass eine enge Zusammenarbeit mit dem Institut für Molekulare Onkologie, dem UMG-Labor, sowie dem Max-Planck-Institut für Multidisziplinäre Naturwissenschaften besteht.

Im Zentrum unseres Interesses stehen vor allem klinisch-diagnostische Aspekten zu COVID-19 (Prof. Dr. Uwe Groß).
Außerdem wird der Frage nachgegangen, inwieweit sich Bakteriophagen zukünftig therapeutisch einsetzen lassen (Dr. Lucas Horvath).
